Through the generosity of Marc and Cheri Quinlan, NECTFL is pleased to offer this scholarship meant to support a student teacher. A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a future language educator from the NECTFL region to be used during the semester/year devoted to student teaching (graduate or undergraduate). The recipient will receive one night hotel stay and a complimentary registration to the NECTFL conference to accept the award. The scholarship will be awarded at the conference and may be used either during that spring session or the following fall semester.
Applicants must submit the online application with the following supporting materials:
A current college transcript (official or unofficial)
A one-page typed statement of your future plans to become a language teacher (Times New Roman 12, one-inch margin)
Letters of recommendation from:
A college/university methods instructor
A language professor/instructor
A list of community activities including membership or partipation in professional organizations for future educators
A link to a media presentation stating why you want to become a language teacher
This may include examples of strategies, tasks, assessments you have tried out in pre-service experiences
If available documentation of OPI or Praxis or other assessment scores demonstrating required proficiency for certification
