Call for Proposals

We - and most importantly, your colleagues - want to hear from you. Proposals for our 74th Annual Conference, to be held in 2028, will be open in late spring, 2027.

Proposals to present at the Annual Conference fall under one of several categories.

Professional Learning Sessions

Professional learning sessions are the bulk of the program at the Annual Conference. These one-hour sessions engage conference participants in meaningful learning experiences. Attendees come to these sessions, often interactive, with a goal of deepening their understanding of practice, learning new approaches, and bringing something tangible to their classrooms in the days and weeks after the conference.

Pre Conference Workshops

Held on Thursday, before the official beginning of the conference, these three- or six-hour workshops dive deeply into an important element or aspect of the profession. Participants are able to gain real insight through collaboration with the presenters and other workshop attendees. 

Research Roundtable

Research roundtable presentations allow scholars, students, and practitioners to present the results of research that they have conducted. Typically presenters have about 20 minutes to share their research projects with five to ten minutes of questions from those at the table. Two research topics are shared at each table, splitting the hour. 

#techlab

#techlab consists of tables led by tech experts, similar to a tech fair. Attendees will come to this session, but instead of sitting down and learning from one presenter only, they will have the opportunity to learn ‘à la carte’ from several world language educators with expertise in instructional technology. Participants may stay as long as they like with one presenter or browse the tables at their own pace.

Standing Room Only

In these less formal conversations, a presenter facilitates the session around a certain topic. Participants and facilitator tackle questions and answers together. SRO sessions are shorter than professional learning sessions and happen around high top tables in the vendor exhibit area.
