Through generous funding from Vista Higher Learning and RBERN at NYU, we can offer a number of full conference scholarships to new teachers (in their first 5 years of classroom teaching) and a registration cost reduction to mentor teachers who work with a new teacher during the conference days.
Applicants must live and teach in the Northeast region and be a current member of a local/state professional organization.
Each new teacher scholarship covers conference registration, including a three-hour pre-conference workshop on Thursday and the full conference program on Friday and Saturday.
Travel, meals, and hotel expenses are not included.
Applicants must be a currently teaching practitioner with no more than 5 years teaching experience.
Applicants must agree to participate in the entire conference, including a focus group meeting of new teachers and mentors.
New teacher scholarship recipients will be paired with a mentor with the expectation that they will communicate with each other prior to the conference and will meet at different times over the course of the conference to discuss their conference experience.
Applicants should request a signed letter of support from their immediate supervisor to confirm their employment, to commit their support, and to acknowledge that the applicant will be allowed release time to participate in the conference. This letter must be uploaded at the time of the application.
